a new place i am now than i were at the last turn o' the century
twas many months ago then
perhaps three or two or one
perhaps less
when the century turned before
and what do i have to show for myself

what do i have to show for the last century of work?
the last century of improvement of complaints of revolutions
probably not that much
probably not that little
but the next century will be different

'how so?'
you'd ask
'how will the next century of poetry of centuries of poetries be different?'
i will ask to confuse confuse confuse
'huh?'
you might say and make that squishy wushy face
'exactly'
i'll whisper and scream over and over and over
until we all know what the next century will hold
